Conocer's Model

   Our communities face complex issues. No longer
   can just one person or one group of people take on
   the challenge of creating change in communities. To
   truly create change, we must work together.

   We have found that groups most successful at
   creating sustainable change work with a strong
   sense of both unity and autonomy. These groups
   function with just enough interdependence to work
   in an organized manner and enough independence to
   nurture creativity and innovation.

The conditions that enable groups to work with unity and autonomy are cultivated by the efforts of
public leaders, who:

  1. Foster a Sincere Sense of Community
  2. Uncover Shared Purpose
  3. Articulate Common Principles
  4. Illuminate Reality
  5. Support Concerted Action

This can be hard work. It takes deep commitment and well-honed leadership practices. Our services support public leaders in doing this work.
